Observe the planetarium; interpret and study the astronomical phenomena using the optical and radiological devices; link the research results to basic and applied sciences; study the relations between place and time; set the timings; and document, present, discuss or publish the results of astronomical researches, studies and analyses.

Main Tasks:
  • Observe the planetarium; interpret the astronomical phenomena using observatories, telescopes, photographic equipment, spectrometers, ground radiation measures or balloon or satellite-borne instruments.
  • Study and interpret the astronomical phenomena in light of physical laws; define the size and extent of the brightness of moons, planets, stars, galaxies and black holes; and identify the astronomical tracks of celestial bodies using optical and radiological devices.
  • Study the relation between place and time related to celestial bodies; prescribe timings of prayers, sunrise and sunset; and identify the beginnings and ends of Hijri months.
  • Prepare and develop mathematical tables and panels to identify the locations of the sun, moon, planets and stars, in order to be used for maritime and air navigation purposes.
  • Prepare, present, clarify and keep on their relative database, the specialized documents and reports related to the results of astronomical studies and means of development, as per the approved policies and procedures.
