315208 - Marine Observer

Regulate movement of inbound and outbound ships; assist ships’ captain in heading to port and anchoring; listen to radio for emergencies; prepare and submit work reports.

Main Tasks:
  • Follow-up and monitor anchored, inbound and outbound ships by monitoring marine radar’s screen.
  • Determine ships’ locations at sea, direction, sailing speed and specifications.
  • Assist ship’s captain in determination of waiting locations, time of inbound, time of guide boarding, number of required tugboats, wharf number and berthing location; inform guide of berthing time; inform tugboats and anchoring workers; determine berthing location.
  • Listen to radio; provide the captain with weather and naval conditions in travel route; respond to SOS situations, and organize relief teams work.
  • Prepare, submit, document and archive work’s reports
