To Serve Government Entities, Media and Researchers
GaStat Launches "Hajj Statistical Map" for the Dissemination of Data
In continuation of its efforts to disseminate statistical data transparently, GaStat launches the "Hajj Statistical Map" on next Monday morning simultaneously with the final announcement of Hajj statistics' outcomes for this year. It is one of the most important information references that illustrates the details of Hajj statistics every year to facilitate access to information that can benefit the media, researchers and government entities in detail.
Mr. Khalid Aldalgan, the supervisor of Information Technology at GaStat, explained that the map can be accessed through GaStat official website www.stats.gov.sa . It is an interactive map to view the Hajj statistics and link the statistical data with the sites of domestic pilgrims counting centers within the Kingdom. Two editions of the map have been released for the years (1435H – 1436H). The map reviews the definition of Hajj statistics carried out by GaStat. In addition, it reviews the centers of Hajj statistics and their locations in Makkah, Medina, Jeddah and Alta'if, with the display of data of every statistical center. Mr. Aldalgan asserted that researchers, interested parties, media and government entities can get the total number of pilgrims, either from outside or inside Saudi Arabia through these maps. They can also obtain the domestic pilgrims' distribution around counting centers, number of Saudis and non-Saudi pilgrims coming from inside the kingdom, number of carrying vehicles and type of vehicle during the period from 1st until 9th of Dhu AlHijjah. The map also provides access to details of gender and nationality in addition to a time series of domestic pilgrims for the last ten years.
GaStat IT supervisor also said that the map was designed by a specialized department in the Authority in order to support Arabic and English, with a system that enables a smooth and easy use for everyone. The latest techniques have been used in "geospatial" data dissemination on the internet, and it can be viewed through different devices such as PC's, laptops or smart phones.
It is worth mentioning that the pilgrim's enumeration processes stops at 6:30 Makkah time, tomorrow morning (9 Dhu AlHijjah). After it stops, the total numbers of the three main tracks; pilgrims from outside KSA, domestic pilgrims, Pilgrims from Makkah city will be announced. GaStat will announce the Hajj Statistics' program bulletin, which includes accurate and comprehensive data and information about pilgrim's numbers according to date of arrival and way of arrival. The bulletin also includes a number of key tables and charts issued in more than one form that fit the needs of related entities (prints, digital forms and Excel files). The most prominent data are: the total number of domestic pilgrims by gender and arrival road, the total number of Saudi pilgrims by gender and arrival road, non-Saudi domestic pilgrims by gender, nationality and arrival road, a comparison between the numbers of domestic pilgrims according to their nationalities, number of vehicles carrying domestic pilgrims to Makkah city by type of vehicle and date of arrival, and finally, a comparison between the number of pilgrims coming from outside Saudi Arabia by way of arrival.
