GaStat: The Total Number of Pilgrims for the Hajj Season of 1438H. Reached (2,352,122) Pilgrim

GaStat announced today Thursday the ninth of Dhu AL-Hijjah the results of the hajj statistics for this year 1438H. The total number of pilgrims reached (2,352,122) pilgrim. (1,752,014) are from outside The Kingdom, and the total number of pilgrims from inside The Kingdom reached (600.103) pilgrim. Male pilgrims’ total number reached (1.334.080) out of the overall total of pilgrims from inside and outside The Kingdom. In addition, female pilgrims’ total number reached (1.018.042) out of the overall total of pilgrims from inside and outside The Kingdom.

With respect to the pilgrims arriving from outside The Kingdom, GCC pilgrims reached (32.600) pilgrim with (1.86) %, the number of pilgrims of Arab countries apart from GCC pilgrims reached (383.044) pilgrim with (21.86) %, and the number of pilgrims of Asian countries apart from Arab countries reached (1.042.335) pilgrim with (59.49) %. However, the number of pilgrims of African countries apart from Arab countries reached (186.873) pilgrim with (10.67) %. In addition, the number of pilgrims of European countries (84.894) pilgrim with (4.85) %, whereas the number of pilgrims of North and South America and pilgrims of Australia reached (22.267) pilgrim with (1.27) %.

Moreover, (1.648.332) of pilgrims from outside The Kingdom arrived through air ports, and (88.855) arrived through land ports. However, (14.827) of pilgrims arrived through sea ports.

Additionally, their arrival to The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was at different periods of time. (528.864) of pilgrim from outside The Kingdom arrived during the time of the beginning of the hajj season until 18th of Dhu AL-Qeadah, and (785.346) of pilgrims arrived between 19-30 of Dhu AL-Qeadah. Moreover, (437.804) of pilgrims continued to arrive to The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the time period between 1 to 7 of Dhu AL-Hijjah.

Regarding the pilgrims from inside The Kingdom who reached (600.108) pilgrim this year, the total number of pilgrims arriving from the cities and governorates of The Kingdom reached (229.308) and (370.800) pilgrims are from the city of Holy Makkah including the temporary residents during the hajj season in Makkah city, (291.684) of them are Non-Saudi pilgrims and (79.116) of them are Saudi pilgrims.

GaStat has enumerated the pilgrims arriving to Makkah City from inside The Kingdom Saudis and Non-Saudis through the hajj statistical centers located in the entrances of the city of Holy Makkah. In addition, the rate of pilgrims arriving to Makkah from inside The Kingdom through Jeddah/Makkah road reached (36.3) %, (28.8) % is through AL-Shraea/Makkah road, and (19.2) % is through Makkah/AL-Madinah road. Moreover, (15.7) % is through the other three roads which are the South/Makkah road, Taif/Makkah road and the old Jeddah/Makkah road.

GaStat illustrated in its results of hajj statistics of this year that the seventh, eighth and ninth days of Dhu AL-Hijjah have witnessed an arrival reached (86.4) % out of the overall total number of pilgrims from inside The Kingdom arriving to Holy Makkah. On the other hand, the number of vehicles which carry the pilgrims from inside The Kingdom to Holy Makkah city for this year reached (31.569) vehicle. In addition, the number of the labor force of the entities that provided their services to the guests of Allah from all sectors, apart from military and security sectors, reached (157.538). (11.228) of them are female employees and (146.310) are male employees. And, the total number of the labor force in providing health and emergency services for this season reached (30.870). However, the total number of the labor force which provides secretariat and municipality services, control and inspection services, water and electricity services, media and religious awareness services in addition to a number of supportive services reached (86.987) employee. The number of the labor force in transportation and post services, logistic services (shipment, post and supply) that The kingdom provides to the guests of Allah reached (35.938) employee working in five sectors specialized in land and air transport, post, shipment and supply services.

On the other hand, his excellency the president of GaStat Dr.Fahad AL-Tukhaifi thanked all the governmental security entities that supported GaStat to implement its task for the hajj statistics of this year. He also praised the work of more than 450 statistical researchers who completed their assigned tasks for the hajj of this year after working 24/7 starting from the beginning of this month until the sunset of the day of Arafah. Dr.AL-Tukhaifi assured that all the details related to hajj statistics have been published along with this announcement through the statistical hajj map and the detailed bulletin for hajj statistics which include (40) statistical outputs on GaStat official website www.stats.gov.sa to provide accurate and detailed statistics, data and information about the number of pilgrims from inside and outside The Kingdom to help and support the concerned entities of the country in the future planning programs for the purpose of ensuring the necessary services for the guests of the Holy Mosque. Including all social, health, security, food and transportation services. And that is through using time series of accurate data about the number of pilgrims, estimating the necessary labor force to serve the pilgrims and maintain their safety and comfort during the hajj season every year, examining the equipment and the main utilities in the city of Holy Makkah and its Holy Sites with taking that into consideration when preparing the necessary plans, applying the necessary annual traffic plans including the plan of the mass movement of pilgrims (Tasaeed and Nafrah), in addition to supporting the researchers and beneficiaries who are interested in this field, evaluating the activities and the events arranged by the concerned entities of serving the pilgrims, and identifying the change in the way of arrival.

At the conclusion of GaStat work for the program of the hajj statistics, GaStat wishes from God to accept the pilgrims’ hajj and wishes all the success to all governmental and security entities and the other entities in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving distinguished services and coming out with a safe and distinguished hajj season.
