The General Authority for Statistics issues a special report about Saudi women on the occasion of International Women's Day 2020

The General Authority for Statistics (GASTA) issued a special report on the occasion of International Women's Day 2020, on Sunday, March 8, 2020, through its official website www.stats.gov.sa.  The reports is about Saudi women and it was entitled "Saudi Women, partner for success", as Saudi women are considered important component of the contributing force to national development in all fields.
The report relied on (166) statistical indicators about Saudi women in the age group (15 years and above) based on the most recent eleven surveys of the General Authority for Statistics, as well as archived data; to access various statistics about women in various social, economic, educational, health, cultural and entertainment fields, as well as archived surveys of the ministries of interior, education, municipal and rural affairs, health, as well as the National Observatory for Women and the World Bank Group.
The results of the report issued by the General Authority for Statistics showed that Saudi women account for almost half of society by (49%) out of total population (15 years and older) in most administrative regions, the average age of Saudi women is 28 years, and half of Saudi women are under 27 years of age.
The report noted that The Kingdom's Vision 2030 contributed in women’s status enhancement and gaining more rights through national and international empowerment, allowing women to play an important role in development, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz - may God protect him - ordered on 26 September 2017, the issuance of women's driving licenses decision whose implementation began on 24 June 2018, and since then until 20 January 2020, the total number of driving licenses issued for women in the Kingdom reached (174,624), of which (84.8%) Saudi women with a driver's license, the largest percentage of licenses were registered in Riyadh, Makkah and The Eastern Region, reaching (90%) of the total licenses issued for Saudi women.
The report indicated that the percentage of females in the age group (15-64) out of total total females in the Kingdom, is considered to be amongst (average) working-age women in the G20 countries, the results of the report also showed that walking is the most preferred sport for Saudi women by (82.5%). Saudi women workers in the labor market make up to 35% of all Saudi workers.
International Women's Day is a global celebration on the 8th of March each year, which is held to demonstrate public respect and recognition to women for their many achievements in various economic, political and social fields.
