The royal decree no. 3/w/26301 of 30/11/1401H has given GASTAT the authority to issue the directory of services in the cities and villages of the kingdom as a unified official reference for all ministries and government agencies, administrations and institutions. It aims to provide the basic data for planners, police-makers and decision-makers. GASTAT is working to prepare, issue, develop, amend and update this directory in a way that fits new changes and actual requirements and needs from the directory's basic data. GASTAT is preparing to issue the directory (16th) of services in cities and villages of the kingdom, which reflects the data of educational, health, administrative and social services, security and judiciary services, agricultural services, services of banks and lending funds and public services of fiscal year 1436/1437H, which is the reference year for this directory. The services directory takes the administrative division of the kingdom in accordance with the regions system issued by the royal decree no. A/92 of 27/8/1412H (administrative regions, provinces, centers) as a general framework for distribution and classification of data of the available services in cities and villages of the kingdom.

It is a form through which statistical data are collected. Such data include geographical data, as well as educational, health, agricultural, administrative, and social information about each populated locality (city, village, etc.), as per the administrative division of the Kingdom, and the approved administrative regions system.
The form includes four main sections:

1.Updating all data and information in the previous services directory.
2.Adding what's new of geographical data and information, data of educational, health, social, administrative and agricultural services, security and judiciary services, services of banks and lending funds and public services at the level of the locality as well as the available services at the level of the administrative region.
3.Adding localities where any kind of services is available for the first time.
