Average Prices of Goods and Services

 

An economic indicator that presents the average level and the annual and monthly rates of change in the prices of a defined basket of goods and services representing the main consumer products for households, as well as selected construction materials in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, over a specified period compared with the preceding period. Results are published on a monthly basis.

Fixed Capital Assets

 

An annual economic survey aimed at measuring the size and changes in fixed assets owned by business sector establishments over a specified period, in accordance with standard classifications of asset types. The survey provides detailed data on depreciation, disposals, and additions to fixed assets. It also contributes to estimating the volume of fixed capital assets used in the economy, measuring the structure of the business sector in terms of asset distribution and investment patterns, supporting the compilation of national accounts, and providing key indicators that help monitor capital investments and analyze their impact on economic development.

An index that measures the extent of changes in the level of optimism or pessimism of consumers toward the economy in the near future, through an economic survey on the opinions, views and conditions of consumers that are concerned with the current conditions in addition to their expectations of the upcoming economic conditions.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is defined as a statistical measure of the price movements of a fixed basket of goods and services that represent consumption expenditure patterns during a specific period of time compared to the reference period.

Foreign Direct Investment

 

An investment that reflects a long-term relationship and a permanent interest of economic entities that exist in economiesy other than the Saudi economy. This means that the foreign investor owns 10% or more of the shareholders' equity, which enables the foreign investor to exercise some kind of influence on the decision-making process in a way that serves its interests. Thus, this process is described as foreign direct investment.

The Household Survey is conducted by the General Authority for Statistics, where data is collected through communication with a representative sample of Saudi and non-Saudi residents in all administrative regions of the Kingdom.
