GASTAT releases Saudi Family Statistics Report 2024

The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has released, via its official website, " Saudi Family Statistics Report 2024 ", offering a comprehensive overview of household composition in the Kingdom based on the most recent statistical data.
Saudi households made up around 51% of the total number of households. Among Saudi households, those consisting of two or more members made up about 86%. Of these, nuclear families represented 70%, while extended and composite families accounted for 16%. Single-person households made up 14%.
The average age in Saudi society members was 26.6 years, while the median age was 23.5 years. Additionally, individuals under the age of 35 made up 71% of the population. The average size of Saudi households was about five individuals, where households consisting of six members made up 13.5%, and those with four or five members accounted for 12.8%. Regarding the head of household, males made up 83.1%, while females represented 16.9%. The highest percentage of male household heads was in the age group (35-39) years with 17.6%, while the highest percentage of female household heads was in the age group (30-34) years with 14.3%, according to the report.
In terms of housing type, 44.9% of Saudi households lived in apartments, and 31.0% were in villas. Among single-person households, 55.8% lived in apartments and 16.2% were in villas. For multi-member households, 43.4% lived in apartments and 33.3% were in villas, the report noted. 
It is worth noting that the "Saudi Family Statistics 2024" report is based on a set of statistical indicators related to Saudi households aged 15 and above. The data is based on the Saudi Census 2022 and the results of various household statistical surveys conducted by GASTAT. The report serves as a scientific reference, contributing to the availability of high-quality and reliable data that enhances understanding of the social and economic characteristics of Saudi households.
