A clarification about the rates of spinsterhood in Saudi Arabia
According to what was published by GaStat about the marriage and spinsterhood statistics, the General Authority for Statistics would like to clarify some of the data and information that are mentioned in the demographic survey which is the source of these statistics. GaStat also would like to clarify the difference between ( spinsterhood) statistic and the statistic of unmarried Saudi women (15 years and above).
First, GaStat indicates that the term of ( spinster) refers statistically to woman who was past the usual or legal age for marrying, this age differs from country to country, it may also differ from time to time in the same country. Depending on the demographic survey that was conducted during the third quarter of 1437 H and included all Saudi regions, it has been shown that 97.2% of Saudi females have got married in the age of (32 or less). Therefore, we can refer to a woman as a spinster in Saudi Arabia when she is older than (32). The following are the most important results of this issue:
