Mechanism and methodology of implementing Industrial Production Survey

The survey depends on a clear methodology that includes a form for collecting data. This form includes:

  • Geographical data (available in survey framework).
  • Economic data that need to be filled from the sampled establishment.

Geographical data refer to spatial data that accurately locate the surveyed establishment. While economic data are to be provided by the establishment; for example, a precise description of the establishment activity, data on workers, remunerations, other expenses, revenues and capital formations.

The collection of survey data is carried out through face-to-face interviews by qualified and well-trained researchers under the direct supervision of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) employees.
The Establishments Census 1432 is adopted as a framework for selecting the economic survey sample. It includes all the data necessary to draw the sample. Such data include name and address of the establishment, its activity and the number of workers. Geographically, it covers all administrative regions of KSA, with particular emphasis placed on cities, given the fact that they accommodate about 84% of the establishments in KSA; moreover, cities have approximately 91% of KSA workers.
