The importance of the Education and Training Survey 2017 is that it is the first survey conducted by GASTAT in the education and training field. It is hoped that the survey data will fulfill the needs of planners in the education and training field as well as data needed by regional and international organizations
 Through this survey, many educational phenomena can be studied such as rates of enrollment, dropouts, illiteracy, re-exam, and spending on education. It also provides data about talent as well as training by the training subject, training hours and spending on training.
For the purpose of comparison and unifying the style and statistical approach used in conducting the Education and Training Survey, all the 13 regions of the kingdom have been covered through a sample of households, who are estimated at (33500) households.
Goals of Education and Training Survey:  
Education and Training Survey includes many goals as follows:

1. Creating a database of education and training to be used as a credible base for supplying local, international and regional organizations.
2. Understanding the educational and training characteristics of members of the society by age and sex.
3. Measuring a number of important basic educational indicators, including:
   • Level of education and illiteracy by age and sex
   • Level of net and gross enrollment by stage and sex
   • Indicators of re-exam and dropout
   • Indicators about talent and training
4. Comparing the survey results with the official statistics of the education and training sector issued by related agencies with a view to setting accurate indicators that reflect the reality of education in the kingdom
5. Using indicators of education and training to provide the necessary data for economic and social studies

Measuring the regular changes in the educational characteristics of the population by the passage of time, which helps assess the education development in the kingdom
